Behold the spectacle of another Parking Prick, only this time he’s someone quite well known on the world’s political stage. He is non-other than George Osborne, the UK’s Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Pictured here standing next to his “Chelsea Tractor”, a £50,000 Land Rover, which is parked in the disabled parking spot at an M4 service station in South Wales, Mr. Osborne claims that he had “no idea” his car had inadvertently taken up a disabled parking space. One wonders if he even considered throwing his chauffeur under a bus and putting all the blame squarely on his shoulders instead!
A witness told the UK’s Mirror newspaper, who published the pictures: “I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw his driver pull into the disabled parking bay. It’s not as if they were in a rush to move. The car park wasn’t exactly full and there were plenty of other, ordinary spaces.”
Richard Hawkes, chief executive of the disability charity Scope claimed that the incident showed how “wildly out of touch the Chancellor is with disabled people in the UK”.
In light of the benefits cuts for disabled people they will feel that his use of the bay was “rubbing salt in the wounds”, Mr Hawkes added.
It’s no wonder he was booed at last year’s Paralympics.
